Meet Sarah

My Approach
I am a holistic practitioner in that I look at you and your problems from an inter-relational lens under the premise that nothing works in isolation. You are made up of many different aspects and as such any one of them or all of them maybe contributing to the core of your problem. I look beyond the superficial when working with you. I utilise all the knowledge and education that I have gained to help you understand what is happening with your body. As time has gone on, I have become more intuitive in how I work in so much as tuning into your body to guide my treatment protocols which can include one or many of the modalities that I have in my tool box.
My Journey
I have had a long interest in health – I originally wanted to become a Primary Physical Education (PE) teacher in my younger days and studied to become one. However, when I entered the education system as a casual relief teacher and after applying for many full time teaching jobs and receiving rejection after rejection realised that clearly, I was not meant to be a primary PE teacher and checked back in with myself as to where I wanted to head next and got directed to massage. I had, had insights during my studies at university that I was interested in combining personal training and massage together. So, I headed down the massage path and 24 years later I am still massaging through the modality of Myotherapy. After starting my study of the body, I delved into energy healing with the first course that I took to be a level one course in pranic healing. This opened me up to the concept of the energetic body in addition to the physical body – I have since gone on and studied Reiki and Seichim along with vibrational medicines of Flower essences as well. I did a brief dive into kinesiology to decide that it wasn’t for me. About 7 years ago I got the nudge to expand my offerings and went on to study nutrition which was eye opening to be able to look at how the body functions from a completely different standpoint of the musculoskeletal system which had been my primary focus since studying Human Movement and massage. I also loved how they combine almost seamlessly together to help people understand the concept that nothing works in isolation. What we eat can create inflammation, which can then increase our perception of pain amongst many other combinations of how what we eat affects different aspects of our health. This gave me the understanding that if we only look at one aspect of the body, we can be ignoring the interrelationship between the whole. Which brings me to the addition of Holistic Counselling to the mix. Holistic Counselling is founded on the mind body connection and that if you ignore one you in essence create an imbalance within the body. My primary focus of studying counselling was adding a qualification that covered the mind aspect of my learnings and therefore the ability to bring together the mind body connection to a whole other level in my ability to create change with my clients.
